Home of Tea & Tattered Pages
A conversation among poets, artists, scientists, and philosophers on experience and the nature of being, Tea & Tattered Pages publishes delicate, yet strong creations that evoke wonder, curiosity and engagement with the phenomenal world.
We are inspired by a now-closed secondhand English bookstore and tea room in Paris, France.
This project has been a long time in the making. In 2005, my friend Kim and I rented a third-floor walk-up on Rue de Bac in the 7th Arrondissement in Paris. Unbeknownst to us, it was an expensive neighborhood well beyond our financial capabilities.
Aching for a book written in English (since our French was terrible), we stumbled upon a secondhand English bookstore near the Luxembourg Gardens. Dusty, water-damaged books lined the walls, prices were subject to change, and in the back was a tea room, which held a James Joyce book club every Wednesday night. In love with its quaint atmosphere and reminiscent of my time living with my Aunty and Uncle in England (where my favorite time of day was Afternoon Tea), we began a blog where we reviewed books, paired them with different teas, and conversed about everything from the nature of Spirit to the shape of things.
Now, over a decade later, the project has blossomed into a chapbook series and small press. We are a proud member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP).
